Bio - Marianne Fischer

Marianne Fischer is a community volunteer. She serves on the Board of Directors of Keystone Human Service where she is the Chairperson of the Leadership Development Committee. Mrs. Fischer also serves as a Board member for Keystone Human Services International. Both non-profit organizations are located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania providing programs and services for individuals with mental health and developmental disabilities in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Moldova and Russia.

Mrs. Fischer serves on the Advisory Board for Downtown Daily Bread, a soup kitchen with additional services for individuals who are homeless and in need of showers, mail service, mental health and job placement programs. Downtown Daily Bread is a mission outreach program of Pine Street Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Fischer has been a Eucharistic Minister/Chaplain Assistant assigned to the Pastoral Care department of PinnacleHealth Systems, Harrisburg, PA for eight years. She has participated in many workshops and trainings provided by PinnacleHealth and its Pastoral Care department.

She is a member of the Cursillo Movement having made the 68th Women's Cursillo in Millersville, Pennsylvania. This life changing weekend enlivened her faith and began her journey to explore the Secular Franciscan Order. In April 2012, she professed into the St. Thomas More Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

In 2011, she and her husband Fred served as companion volunteers with Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitality North American Volunteers, Syracuse, New York on a special needs pilgrimage to Lourdes, France. Her commitment deepened and expanded her service to the organization, a Public Association of the Christian Faithful in the Catholic Church, the first Lourdes Hospitality of the Americas. In June 2012, she was elected to its Board of Directors and is serving as Chairperson of its Development Committee.

She is a member of St. Katherine Drexel parish, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania where she was a member of its Intercessory Prayer Group and is currently a member of its Caring Community assigned to sending greeting cards to parishioners who reside in assisted-living, retirement and Alzheimer communities. She has an established Adoration Hour at the Adoration Chapel in the Diocese of Harrisburg located at St. Theresa's parish, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Fischer was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she graduated from St. Mary of the Mount High School, Mt. Washington. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. She is married to Fred Fischer and together have one married daughter, Katie, son-in-law Justin, and grandchildren Gianna Marie and Jackson who reside in Arizona.
